It s location would have been perfect (it connects to both the main street and the beach) were it not for the beach vendors that really are a nuisance. The superior bungalows are somewhat dark and need renovating, but are still comfortable and kept very clean. One of the better choices in Chaweng. Date: 2010-06-12

I have spent 14 days with my wife of 5 years and it truly felt like our honeymoon. Although it seemed at the time of booking as a bit too pricey and potentially not the greatest value for money, I am pleased to conclude that the hotel was worth every penny.
We stayed at a deluxe room on the first floor, overseeing the big pool. I have written to the hotel requesting a room above the ground floor and they fully adhered to my request. The room was spacey, with so many fine touches, away from the main street, lulled in the hotel’s tropical lush garden. The pool bar was closing at 6pm and the pool at 8pm, so we could really enjoy the peace and quiet sitting on our lovely balcony.
Two years ago we stayed at Lamai beach, afraid of the noisy Chaweng streets and this was naturally one of our biggest concerns when we chose the Regent. Luckily, by some miracle once you get onto the hotel’s estate, the noise of the street completely disappears.
The staff was extraordinarily friendly and attentive. They have dealt with every single of our special requests (and there were quite a few) in the best manner possible.
I warmly recommend the Chomatay restaurant on the beach for dinner (there are many lovely restaurants in the vicinity, most of them cheaper than C, but frankly in this case the price came with the quality) or for cooking classes. The breakfast was one of the best ever!
Although the hotel spa is marvelous, we found it to be too expensive. It is much better to go to one of many massage salons nearby on the beach.
People who like to swim in the see can find the beach to be disappointing, as the water is quite shallow (I believe maximum dept at this side of the coral reef was about 1.5m). We enjoyed chilling in the calm shallow water safely watching the waves crush against the reef in front of us and used the pool for serious swimming.
We definitely plan to come back to this hotel. Date: 2010-03-13

We were most impressed with the resort and the staff. The pools were great, the brakfast was amazing and the gym had all the best equipment. Great pools and friendly staff who are very welcoming. Reserve : The staff at Sawadee.com are friendly, courteous and super efficient. This holiday was put together very quickly and sawadee.com did not let us down. They not only arranged for our hotel reservations, but they booked us transportation from the airports to each of our hotels. The taxis were prompt and the drivers were very polite. The staff at Sawadee.com made a memorable holiday even more so and I will definitely use them again the next time we go to Thailand...which should be very soon! Back to KohSamui and to the Chaweng Regent Beach Resort with 2 other girlfriends-all very satisfied with this resort. Always a very friendly staff, clean comfi rooms, clean swimmingpool,clean beach. Great breakfast buffet, we only missed dark (7grains) bread and also the coffee could be better (coffee machine with espresso/cappuccino etc., even if you have to pay for it, but you have a choice). Great food & wine at the RED SNAPPER Restaurant, great staff. The band/singers were good but much too loud, a coversation at the table inside the restaurant was not possible. L.Krajicek-Bytel, NL Comment : Colin Twitchett : We spent six nights at the Chaweng Regent. My wife and I had a Premier Room which was a very nice beach resort room with a huge bathroom. The boys had a Deluxe Room which was very 3 star. I had stayed there in 97 in what is now the Regency Wing and this still looks the better part of the resort especially with the two pools located here. the location is great on the beach and the street. The better restaurants are on the beach v s the street and definitely try Dr Frog s on the Cliff.
The service was good most of the time not that it was a great worry when it wasn t. More inexperienced than problematic. The food at the Resort was excellent except for breakfast which lacked quality and selection, plus they would run out. Very nice pool, grounds at the Resort, and the place is kept very clean ( including rooms ), even though the Resort is looking a little tired.
We had a very enjoyable stay and would recommend to stay there for a family holiday, and I suspect that the Regency Wing has nicer rooms.
Definitely go scootering around the Island on a dry day, go and see the Tiger Show, Venture out to the nicer restaurants which are still cheap but excellent food...Red Snapper, Dr Frog s, lay out by the beach and pool, eat dinner on the beach, light a wish hot air balloon and set it adrift. Expensive restaurant compared to others, but also special and with nice live music and large buffet. The best location right on the beach and nice view from the restaurant in the morning and at night. We had a quite room, but the balcony was no use, no sun or view. But still really nice hotel, but we expected a more luxourius room, considering the price and expected upgrade for honeymooners, but I am not sure we got it! Although we intially booked a superior bungalow, we changed rooms during our stay and would highly recommend the deluxe villas. An excellent holiday all round and would not hesitate in staying again. Reserve : quick, easy and safe Comment : Michael Kirkwood : I would strongly recommend this hotel/resort to any of my friends or fellow travellers. The hotel was immaculately clean and the staff were some of the friendliest that I have ever encountered in Thailand. The food in the restaurants was excellent and the buffet breakfast served every morning was delicious and the various choices ensured that any appetite would be satisfied. The beach in front of the hotel was wonderful and the two swimming pools ensured sufficient space for everyone to enjoy a relaxing spot to sun tan or simply relax. Reserve : Although, we had a problem with our first hotel on Koh Samui (Samui Orchid Resort), your staff responded immediately to my request for an alternate booking and within a couple of hours, all of the arrangements were made...including transport between the two hotels. I want to thank you very much for your help, fast response and professionalism. I will certainly be using your website when I return to Thailand with my family next year. Comment : Athar Sherwani : Hotel is sited on the beach with good amenities. However, cottage rooms remind you of Japanese hotels with hardly room to swing a cat. We put our luggage into our room and went out to process film. On our return 20 minutes later, the cottage was reeking of sewage smell. On our complaint, cleaning staff came to survey the situation who then called the reception to confirm the incident. We were then offered another cottage which was not as well placed. This took nearly 11/2 hours to resolve. We requested an upgrade or some compensation, i.e.Dinner for 2. Eventually the Duty Manageress came in to resolve the matter. Unfortunately, She was very cold and unhelpful and suggested the smell had gone,(the cleaning staff sprayed the cottage with strong perfume which masked the smell momentarily),the best she could do was to cancel the booking and let us look for another hotel. As we were staying for 1 night only due to non availability, we had no option but to stay at the hotel. Incidentily, when later in the evening we passed by the original cottage, the whole area smelled horribly. Drainage system in the 2nd cottage was also very poor. My view is that perhaps the hotels needs to overhaul its Drainage system.
Hotel has an excellent swiming pool and jacuzzi. Apart from the Manageress, staff were very kind and helpful. Date: 2007-03-13

Comment : Anko Staas : Although the (bath)rooms are a bit outdated the Chaweng Regent Hotel is a perfect location for a relaxed vacation with very good service and very friendly personnel. It s location, right in the middle of Chaweng, gives easy access to all the shops, restaurants, bars, etc. but without the disturbance of the noise going along with that. I would certainly return to this hotel on my next trip to Samui Date: 2007-02-24

The hotel has beautiful gardens and pools and the walk throughthe garens up to the main road was always a pleasure.
